Garden

  1. Wow loved weeding the garden! Just kidding I didn't! I was always fun though when we did it together! I remember one year Salters were visiting and Mom said we couldn't play until we weeded the whole thing and we were all mad but we did it! Lots of hands make light work and we were glad they were there to help! The rows were always straight! Think it would have done way better if we took care of it better but we sure did get lots of potatoes and carrots out of there! When the raspberries did good that year they would get eaten up fast! The sprinkler going on it all the time! Having Willy Wiebe come and till it for.us! It was always fun planting! Tyanna

  2. planting the garden with kayla and dad. And weeding. but mom seemed to care that the flower beds were weeded before the garden. beauty before food; pretty good mantra. Always lots of potatoes that we had to dry out on the basketball court and then take to westwoods. Moving the sprinkler, trying not to get wet or muddy was difficult. Putting the string across the garden to make sure the rows were straight.

  3. It always seemed the garden was one of the last things on the list. I waited anxiously for years for the raspberries to take off, but they never did, just a bowl full every year was about all we got! Loved planting with all of us. Willy Wiebe tilling it up. Sprinkler!

  4. Good ol' Willy Wiebe! Oh man that garden was huge. But I'm glad we never really had to take care of it that much, seemed like it would always freeze in August before we harvested. The rasberry bushes that never grew anything, potatoes eaten by mice and small. I do remember getting radishes, they would always grow. But never the carrots. I always remember planting it for FHE sometime and it would always be cold outside. And Dad digging the holes and we would drop the potatoes in. Good times.

  5. The garden... where only potatoes and radishes would grow. Too cold, too wet, too hot, too many cows out. Hey, at least we tried.
